LevelOne IP Cameras
This page is to assist customers get a feel for selected Level One products. The table below gives a brief comparison of the cameras which are available for remote viewing.
Notes:
- Many of the codecs used are available only as ActiveX controls, so will work in Microsoft Internet Explorer only. Therefore we strongly recommend that you use Internet Explorer browser (v5 or later), and you will be asked to download an Active-X control (which is used to display the image from the camera).
- These cameras are connected to an ADSL2 connection, so the outgoing (upstream) speed is max. 1Mbps - which is lower than the 1.2Mbps data stream some cameras are capable of. Also, if someone else is also viewing a camera at the same time this outgoing bandwidth will be shared - resulting in dropped frames and delayed / jerky movement.
- The cameras are located in our Sydney office, and are used for other demonstrations, so may not be available at all times. If the camera(s) you are interested in are not available, please check with our Technical Support department.
- These cameras are made available so that you can view their image quality and experiment with their settings - so they may have been left in 'less than optimal' configuration by a previous viewer.

Glossary
| Term |
Explanation |
| P/T or P/T/Z |
P/T indicates that the camera can turn from side to side (pan) and up/down (tilt) under remote control. P/T/Z indicates Pan, Tilt, and Zoom. Traditionlly cameras are mounted in fixed position |
| Zoom |
Some cameras have optical zoom (like a video camcorder) under remote control. This requires a higher quality lens plus additional motors, adding significantly to the cost. Many cameras and software has Digital zoom feature which simply displays the dots bigger, leading to a pixilated or grainy image. |
| Sensor |
Budget cameras use CMOS sensors to capture the image. CCD sensors are professional quality, like those in video camcorders. |
Day/
Night |
Most cameras will automatically adjust brighness and contrast to provide an acceptable black & white image in low-light conditions. The FCS-4000 has an IR filter which is automatically activated in low-light conditions to enhance the image. Day/night cameras have Infra-red emitters which provide sufficient illumination for 10m in a no-light situation. |
| PoE |
Power over Ethernet uses some of the unused wires in a Cat5/5e/6 cable to deliver power to the device; saving the need for an electrician to install a power point at the camera location. Most IP Cameras can use external POS-1000 PoE Splitter, but some now have the PoE Splitter built-in. |
